exposure-the amount of light per unit area
tiff-a computer file format for storing raster graphics images, popular among graphic artists, the publishing industry, and both amateur and professional photographers in general. The format was originally created by the company Aldus for use in desktop publishing.
png- a raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression.
White balance- the process of removing unrealistic color casts, so that objects which appear white in person are rendered white in your photo.
Histogram- A diagram consisting of rectangles whose area is proportional to the frequency of a variable and whose width is equal to the class interval.
Aperture- A device that controls the amount of light admitted through an opening. In photography and digital photography, aperture is the unit of measurement that defines the size of the opening in the lens that can be adjusted to control the amount of light reaching the film or digital sensor.
Shutter speed-exposure time is the length of time when the film or digital sensor inside the camera is exposed to light, also when a camera’s shutter is open when taking a photograph.
Depth of field-focus range or effective focus range, is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image
Aperture priority-on a camera mode dial, is a setting on some cameras that allows the user to choose a specific aperture value while the camera selects a shutter speed to match, thereby ensuring proper exposure.
Shutter priority-a setting on some cameras that allows the user to choose a specific shutter speed while the camera adjusts the aperture to ensure correct exposure.
Bitmap- A representation in which each item corresponds to one or more bits of information. The information is used to control the display on a computer screen.
Exposure-a tool to create beautiful photo narratives
Watermarking- originally faint imprints on paper that could only be seen at a specific angle. This process was designed to prevent counterfeiting and is still used today.
optical zoom-on a digital camera, optical zoom is a true zoom feature. It allows you to zoom in (or out) on the subject in the LCD or viewfinder. This will enable you to get a closer view of the subject before taking your picture.
digital zoom- Digital zoom is a method of decreasing the apparent angle of view of a digital photographic or video image. Digital zoom is usually accomplished by scaling portion of the image data (usually center) to have same aspect ratio as well as pixel dimensions compared to the original image.
bracketing- the general technique of taking several shots of the same subject using different camera settings
light meter-An instrument for measuring the intensity of light, used chiefly when showing the correct exposure in photography.
image stabilization- a family of techniques used to reduce blurring associated with the motion of a camera or other imaging device during exposure.

macro- short for macro lens
telephoto-a lens with a longer focal length than standard, giving a narrow field of view and a magnified image.
wide angle- In photography and cinematography, a wide-angle lens refers to a lens whose focal length is substantially smaller than the focal length of a normal lens for a given film plane.
DSLR- A digital single-lens reflex camera (also called a digital SLR or DSLR) is a digital camera combining the optics and the mechanisms of a single-lens reflex camera with a digital imaging sensor, as opposed to photographic film.
dynamic range-the range of acceptable or possible volumes of sound occurring in the course of a piece of music or a performance. The ratio of the largest to the smallest intensity of sound that can be reliably transmitted or reproduced by a particular sound system, measured in decibels.
digital negative- open lossless raw image format written by Adobe used for digital photography
exposure compensation- is a technique for adjusting the exposure indicated by a photographic exposure meter, in consideration of factors that may cause the indicated exposure to result in a less-than-optimal image.

10 Year Old Kills Gator
10-year-old Texas girl kills 13-foot, 800-pound alligator with crossbow
This past week a 10 year old Texan embarked upon a 13 foot gator. The little girl who killed the gator in one shot with a cross bow said she was not nervous at all. In fact she was excited because it was so big. Many people would be nervous not matter how old they are but almost every ten year old would be nervous. But not this girl.
This affects me because if i came across a 10 foot gator I think I would be a little frightened.
This doesn’t really affect the world.

Shooting in Oregon
Shotting in Oregon
Umpqua College gunman apparently targerted Christians
http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/02/us/oregon-umpqua-community-college-shooting/
Thursday afternoon in a small town in Oregon a shooter broke into a community college and started shooting. The shooter killed 10 people and injured 7. The people that the shooter was targeting was Christians.
This affects me because I am a Christian and it is kind of scary knowing people are trying to kill you just because you are a Christian. These people died because they believed in some thing that someone else didn’t believe in.
It affects the world because it is becoming more normal for people to just go and shoot people because they believe something different than other people. Christians are slowing becoming the minority. They are being made fun of because of what they believe. This shooting is proof that many people do not like Christians and will do anything to try and kill them

Presidental Debate
Republican Debate: Winners and Losers
Wednesday night the top 11 republican Presidental candidates held a debate on politics. This debate is mainly for people to decide on who people want to vote for for next years election. This debate was only the Republican party candidates.
This affects me because I am going to be able to vote in the election next year. For me to vote well I need to watch these debates and hear what the candidates have to say. What they debate on and what they say may change my mind on who i vote for and why I vote for them.
This affects the world because people need to vote for president, and if they aren’t educated on the candidates then they may not vote for who they would’ve voted for if they watched the elections and listened.

Deflategate
Deflategate
“Poll Suggests Patriots’ Tom Brady Took Image Hit From NFL Deflate-Gate”
Last season during the AFC Championship game the New England Patriots used deflated footballs during the game. The balls are supposed to be inflated to a certain air pressure and after the game the balls were checked and were not filled properly. Tom Brady supposedly was the on who told the ball boy to deflate the footballs to make them easier to catch. Brady was suppose to serve a 4 game suspension for his involvement in the scandal. However he appealed the suspension, took it to court and won. Now he is eligible to play in Week 1.
This affects me because I don’t think it’s fair that he can get away with cheating. Just because he is Tom Brady doesn’t mean he should be able to cheat and get away with it. Growing up I was always taught to not cheat, I think everyone is. For him to cheat, people know that he cheated, to get a punishment for cheating, and then not have to have the punishment taken away isn’t fair. It isn’t fair to the people he cheated against, it isn’t fair to other people that have been caught doing something wrong and had to serve their punishment.
To the world it shows that if you are a certain person and enough people like you, you can get away with almost anything. For example a few days later a player from the Broncos was facing a 4 game suspension for domestic violence, he went to court and was proven that his domestic violence case was false and he was innocent, however he stilled has to serve his 4 game suspension. He said “My name isn’t Brady” Meaning that if Tom Brady would have done what he did he would not have had to serve the suspension. I agree with him. This also shows that cheating is accepted. Even when you get caught cheating people just kind of brush it off like it’s not a big deal.

Fan Falls from Upper Deck
Fan Falls from Turner Field During Yankees-Braves, police say
Earlier this week a man was shouting at a player from the upper deck of Turner Field when suddenly he lost his balance and fell about 50 feet to the deck below. The 60 year old man struck a railing while falling. He received immediate medical attention, however he would later die at the hospital.
This affects me because I am a baseball fan and to see this happen again is terrible. There has been several cases in the past 10 years of people falling over the rails. In 2012 a fan at the Rangers game fell over 20 feet after trying to catch a ball thrown into the stands. The stadium ended up raising the rails around the entire stadium to try and prevent that from happening again. Although the higher rails are not a 100% guarantee of stopping it, its a good start.
This also affects people all across the nation. As other ballparks will now look into if they need to do the same in raising their rails. Even though it hasn’t happened at their stadium yet, if they don’t raise the rails it may end up happening in the future. However the cost raising the rails around the entire park would cost a lot of money. One ballpark estimated it would cost around 1.1 million dollars to raise their rails. This incident has caused much thinking around the nation.
